This Bay replaces the Bay - Tray combination for SAS or SATA drives. You'll need one trayless bay for each drive to be mounted.

  The solution to many requests for a robust trayless enclosure has now been found. Burly Storage has been looking for that solution for some time and it's now available in the Burly line of Hot Swap Port Multiplier, Firewire Enclosures and Mini-SAS Hardware Enclosures.

  This user friendly screw-less design allows you to quickly plug in any 3.5" SAS or SATA hard drive for immediate access to your data. Available in your choice of connectivity from Direct SATA or Port Multiplication to Firewire / USB and in any size from Single Bay, 2, 4, 5 and 8 bay models. Even our Rack Mount Enclosures can be configured with the trayless drive bays.

  Each bay has a built in fan that keeps the drive cool when installed and a key lock to avoid unauthorized access to the drives. Sporting a stylish brushed aluminum faceplate the bay itself is made of sturdy steel construction. The drive is automatically ejected when the door is opened by a positive ejection bar that's directly attached to the door. Drive swapping couldn't be easier. However, if you're going to be using the hot swap function to move drives around for archiving purposes we still recommend our Standard or LCD Burly Enclosures which provide a great deal of drive protection when the drive is removed from the chassis.

  The SAS version of this bay offers dual data paths for redundant signal. The rear panel has a 4 pin Molex power connector and TWO Type-A SATA Connectors.

Please note, the 500 GB and smaller Seagate 7200.12 generation drives will not work with the trayless style bay. These drives are physically shorter and will not fit snugly in the drive opening. The 750 GB and larger drives have the correct frame size to fit these bays.
