Burly Professional Firewire⁄USB 2.0 Hotswap Enclosures are perfect for your backup needs. Each enclosure ships with the new UF-SATA202 Firewire Bridge Board enabling these enclosures to address large capacity drives over 2TB. Each enclosure has a built in power supply and chassis and bay cooling fans to keep the drives cool. The Hotswap capabilities make these enclosures convenient for archiving individual volumes.
Many Firewire enclosures are not capable of addressing drives over 2TB, including older Burly Enclosures that incorporated the Oxford 924 bridge. The new 202 bridge is designed to do just that. By combining the 202 board and an internal Port Multiplier Board we can now address up to 5 SATA drives with a single Firewire Board. Extensive testing has gone into the adoption of this new bridge and we’re quite happy with it. You will be as well. Large capacity drives are no longer a problem with the new Burly FPM enclosures.
The Burly FPM Hotswap Firewire Enclosures are available with Retail version Seagate or Hitachi SATAIII drives which have proven to us to be the most dependable. These drives all have the full manufacturers retail warranty. We’ll install the drives, test and format them so the enclosure is ready to go to work when you get it. You are also welcome to purchase the enclosure and install your own drives.
Note: Like most multi-drive Firewire enclosures it is recommended that when swapping drives you dismount all Firewire drives from your desktop, power the Burly down, swap whatever drives as needed, then power the Burly back up. This can prevent possible corruption to any active data transfer during a swap.
